Malaysia Airlines is an airline based in Kuala Lumpur that operates flights across Asia and a handful of areas in Europe and Oceania. The airline gained international attention in 2014 after a series of strange tragedies just five months apart. In March, a flight headed to Beijing disappeared from radar and presumably crashed. After months of investigation, officials determined that the flight somehow went off course and crashed somewhere off the coast of Australia. It has still not been found. In August of that year, another Malaysia Airlines flight went down, this one taken down by pro-Russia separatists in war-torn Ukraine. A total of 537 people were killed between the two incidents.
