Mac is a series of Apple computers and is an abbreviation for MacIntosh. The first Mac was introduced by Steve Jobs in 1984 and cost about $2,500. The personal computer industry was dominated by the Commodore when Mac was first introduced during a 1984 Super Bowl commercial. Mac hit another high note in sales after a decline in the 1990s with the release of the iMac G3 in 1998. Mac is a regular feature in the news due to its incorporation with the iPhone products. The first Mac laptop was the Macintosh Portable created in 1989, and it was later replaced with the Powerbook in 1991. Since 1998, Mac has produced the all-in-one iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air.
