Iraq has a rich history as one most ancient civilizations in the world. For almost 70,000 years, people have settled in Iraq. Currently, the population is 36 million, and their government has been in effect since 2005. A war zone since 2002, Iraq is a heavily covered news topic because of U.S. military presence. One of the main projects of the past decade that requires international strategic help is refining, drilling, and distributing Iraq’s abundant oil reserves. Once a center point of the Middle East for manufacturing and universities, Iraq is currently an economy rebuilding after decades of political turmoil, including the Iran-Iraq War of the 1980s.
