George Zimmerman was involved in the altercation with Florida teen Trayvon Martin that led to Martin’s death. Zimmerman had been acting as a neighborhood watch volunteer in February of 2012 when he saw 17-year-old Martin walking through the neighborhood. After an altercation, George Zimmerman fatally shot Trayvon Martin. The incident generated national headlines, and Zimmerman faced charges of second-degree murder and manslaughter. He was acquitted of both charges in July of 2013. Zimmerman has had several other brushes with the law since then, with multiple allegations of assault and violence. However, George Zimmerman has not faced charges in any of the incidents. He’s also stirred up controversy with paintings he’s created and work he’s done with those in the gun industry.
