Premiering in 1963, Doctor Who aired continuously up until 1989, when the BBC postponed it. It was revived in 2005 by writer Russell T. Davies and is still currently on air. The sci-fi show revolves around the Doctor, a Time Lord who hails from the far-off planet of Gallifrey and travels through space and time in the TARDIS, a time-traveling spacecraft, alongside a human companion. Along the way, he works to save distant planets and people who are in dire need. Over the years, 12 actors have portrayed the character, whose main foe is the Daleks, with Peter Capaldi currently playing him.
