Born in 1972, Ben Affleck is an American actor, writer, and director who won an Academy Award for co-writing Good Will Hunting alongside his childhood best friend Matt Damon. Having begun his career as a child actor, Affleck soon started to appear in big-budget films after Good Will Hunting’s success, including Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, The Sum of All Fears, and Daredevil. However, a combination of poor critical reviews and the publicity from his relationship with Jennifer Lopez led Affleck to take his career in a more serious direction. Following Hollywoodland, Affleck made his directorial debut with Gone Baby Gone before directing and starring in The Town and Argo, the latter of which won the Oscar for Best Picture.
