Alexander Rae “Alec” Baldwin III was born in April of 1958 to Carol and Alexander Baldwin, Jr. in Amityville, New York, on Long Island. He has three younger bothers who are also actors, plus two sisters. He attended George Washington University in Washington, D.C., before transferring to New York University.

He got his first big acting break on television’s Knots Landing, which was a spinoff of Dallas. He has gone on to star in theater, movies, and television, including NBC’s 30 Rock. He was married to actress Kim Basinger (the couple met on the set of the movie The Marrying Man), and together they have one daughter, Ireland. He recently married a second time to Hilaria Thomas, and together they have two children.
