Founded in 1943, the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) is headquartered in New York City. Now owned by Disney, ABC started as NBC Blue in 1927 before splitting into a new company. ABC’s relationship with Disney is said to have begun as early as 1953. ABC rose to the top of the television industry by being one of three stations that carried color TV in the 1960s. Also in the 1960s, ABC won over viewers by offering movies on TV as well as made-for-TV movies. Famous television shows in history from ABC include Batman, Happy Days, and All My Children.
