T-Mobile USA has teamed up with security vendor Lookout Inc. to provide instant protection from mobile threats. The companies are protecting users with a new product called Automatic App Security.

The new security app will arrived preloaded on devices later this year and most Android devices are expected to ship with the security suit by early 2013. Automatic App Security will be available for securing smartphones at no cost.

The first devices to receive the partnership friendly software will be the LG Optimus L9 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 tablet .

The same benefits will be available for other devices when users download the mobile software from the T-Mobile Picks section of Google Play.

Automatic App Security automatically scans downloads as they enter a users smartphone or tablet. The program then provides information about potential threats via the Lookout Mobile Threat Network. The application also provides weekly scans.

When Lookout discovers a potential threat the application alerts users with information about the threat and instructions on how to uninstall the application and protect against the same type of threats in the future.

Also available is Lookout Premium, an added layer of protect that provides the ability to back up photos, remotely lock devices and wipe content. The premium system also allows apps or services are accessing personal information.

Lookout Premium comes with a monthly charge of $2.99.

With malware and other viruses becoming more smartphone and tablet centric Lookout Premium might be a smart move for T-Mobile customers who are using the open-source friendly Google Android mobile OS.
