Criminal Minds star Daniel Henney joined the cast at the beginning of Season 13 as Agent Matt Simmons. Now TV Line is reporting that Agent Simmons will be shot in episode 10. Will he survive? If so, for how long?

When Thomas Gibson was terminated from Criminal Minds on the heels of Shemar Moore’s departure, casting panicked, eventually employing a record of eight major cast members, portraying BAU agents. Then they hired Daniel Henney.

Adam Rodriguez, Aisha Tyler, and Damon Gupton joined Matthew Gray Gubler, A. J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Joe Mantegna, and Paget Brewster in the rocky times after the Thomas Gibson and Shemar Moore era of Criminal Minds. Season 12 of Criminal Minds saw massive casting changes that culminated in a cliffhanger of a car accident that took the life of Damon Gupton’s character Stephen Walker.

Criminal Minds Beyond Borders star Daniel Henney was employed for Season 13 by Criminal Minds when the spinoff was canceled and CBS decided Damon Gupton as Stephen Walker would die in the car crash. Daniel Henney is a bit of a heartthrob as are most of the past and current Criminal Minds cast members.

Criminal Minds has always preferred agents with sex appeal. Thomas Gibson, Shemar Moore, Matthew Gray Gubler, Daniel Henney, and Adam Rodriguez are all known for their tremendous fan bases. Joe Mantegna is also a fine looking gentleman beloved by fans.

It is also rather noticeable that all the ladies of Criminal Minds are and always have been among the most beautiful and talented actresses available. Kirsten Vangsness, A.J. Cook, Aisha Tyler, and Paget Brewster are all unique and stunning beauties. In past seasons such beauties as Jennifer Love Hewitt, Lola Glaudini, Jeanne Tripplehorn, and Rachel Nichols also starred in Criminal Minds.

Daniel Henney definitely turns a few heads when he makes an entrance, but will he survive ABC and CBS flippant hiring and firing policies? TV Line reports the following occurs in Criminal Minds Season 13 Episode 10, “Submerged.”

“The investigation leads the team to a lakefront, where a series of surprises await them — including Agent Matt Simmons (played by Daniel Henney) getting shot, immediately after which he witnesses the UnSub committing… well, a devastating act.”

So it sounds like Matt Simmons might survive since he is still able to witness “a devastating act.” After all, many BAU agents have been shot, stabbed, or blown up on Criminal Minds and survived. Paget Brewster’s character Emily Prentiss was once dead and buried but still returned to lead the team. Now that’s dedication to the job.

Shemar Moore’s character on Criminal Minds, Agent Morgan, decided the BAU was just too dangerous for a family man. It is a bit ironic that Shemar Moore’s next TV role was to star in S.W.A.T. which seems even riskier.

Will Criminal Minds continue to be a risky show for stars? Criminal Minds ratings have been in decline since the departure of Thomas Gibson and Shemar Moore. The former flagship of CBS is currently pulling less than 1 million younger viewers and the most recent episode drew only 5.341 total viewers according to TV Series Finale.

Will Criminal Minds Season 14 downsize at Daniel Henney’s expense, or could Criminal Minds be canceled? Fans will have to wait and see.
