Marvel Studios thought it best to take Avengers: Infinity War and split it into two separate films since it is going to include 68 different characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They realized that there is simply far too much to contain in one movie. Now, there will be two films to close out the chapter for The Avengers in the MCU, and that means it is time to check out who is definitely in it and who is at risk of dying.
Please note that there are possible spoilers ahead for Avengers: Infinity War and the fourth Avengers film. If you don’t want to know, stop reading now.
When it was revealed that there would be a massive amount of characters in the films, the rumors started flying and everyone wanted to know who was in it. There are some who are blatantly obvious and others who seem like they are definite locks, but let’s take a look at who is known and confirmed to be in it.
For now, the full list has not been confirmed, as Marvel hasn’t given all of the information as of yet. Still, some are locked in and others are possibilities, but that will be notated below. ComicBook.com pointed out a photo recently posted by the Russo brothers that shows how big things have become.
In December, the Inquisitr reported that Disney placed a casting call for both Avengers: Infinity War and the fourth Avengers film. That casting call asked for extras to appear alongside this confirmed list of actors and actresses appearing in the movie.

That makes 21 completely confirmed for Avengers: Infinity War, but we need a lot more. Over time, the Russo brothers and Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, have named other names here and there. Let’s take a look at others who will definitely be in it.

- Brie Larson – Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel
- Don Cheadle – War Machine
- Anthony Mackie – Sam Wilson/Falcon

That makes for just 41 names of the 68 who are scheduled to appear, which means a lot more will be joining the fight. With so many characters showing up in Marvel’s biggest film to date, there is also the idea that some won’t make it out with their lives, and rumors are flying as to just who may die in Infinity War.
Marvel isn’t going to give anything away, so they haven’t said if anyone is actually going to die in the movie, but it’s hard to believe all will make it out unscathed. Rumors and theories have been flying around as to which deaths may occur, and with a lot of contracts ending after these two Avengers‘ films, it could be any number of huge heroes or villains.
Chris Evans added a lot of fuel to the fire when speaking with the Telegraph lately to let everyone know why he returned to play Captain America for one extra movie.
“I had six films in my Marvel contract, so I could have said after the third Avengers I was done, but they wanted to make the third and fourth Avengers films as a two-parter. They said they had so many other characters to fit in – Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Ant Man – and couldn’t get them all into one movie. [I agreed] because it made sense. It’s going to wrap everything up.”
Wrap everything up? That may simply mean this phase of Marvel movies will simply come to an end, but it could mean the end of Captain America as we’ve known him for many years.
Movie Pilot believes that Hawkeye, Vision, and Thor are prime suspects to lose their lives in one of the next Avengers movies. ComicBookMovie has their money on others such as Star-Lord and Scarlet Witch, but they’re also on board with Vision and Captain America perishing.
It is much easier to figure out and guess who will be in Avengers: Infinity War rather than who will not make it past the movies. Still, this is going to be Marvel’s biggest film as of yet, and they have to do something that is not only huge, but also something that no fan will see coming.
Avengers: Infinity War will hit theaters on May 4, 2018, and the Untitled Avengers film will follow on May 3, 2019.
Avengers: Infinity War is going to be one of the biggest comic book movies to ever be released, but it may end up being outdone by the untitled sequel in 2019. Having 68 characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in one film may sound overwhelming, but you can be sure that they’re going to make it work well. What may not be easy for the fans to take is finally learning which of their favorites don’t make it out alive.
