Brad Pitt’s Chateau Miraval Or Johnny Depp’s French Village: Why France Is So Wonderful For Stars [Opinion]

Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp have both enjoyed their homes in Southern France. Pitt and his ex-wife, Angelina Jolie, own the Chateau Miraval, while Johnny Depp owns a French Provencial village. Both properties are valued similarly at around $60 million.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were married at the Chateau Miraval in 2014, according to the Daily Mail. Later, Brad Pitt reportedly retreated to Chateau Miraval when Angelina Jolie was busy with various political projects.

Johnny Depp raised two children largely in France in the Provencial French village home he once shared with Vanessa Paradis. The children attended school in that area.

While Johnny Depp is currently trying to sell his French Estate for around $60 million, Brad Pitt has found a way to make his $60 million Chateau Miraval pay for itself by raising grapes and olives to produce olive oil and wine. The olive oil is priced at $62 per liter, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie also considered selling their Chateau Miraval estate in France but Brad and Angelina decided not to part with it. Perhaps Johnny Depp will end up keeping his French home as well. Depp may have fond memories of raising his children there.

Both Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp own over a dozen residences each. Buying many homes, and financing loans so that the interest is paid, can serve as a tax shelter for their millions in income. Homes like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s Chateau Miraval and Depp’s French Provincial village can prove a luxurious place to live, at least part-time. Plus, real estate is a long-term investment that pays off big when a property is sold.

Still, Brad Pitt’s Chateau Miraval and Johnny Depp’s French Provincial village are perhaps the most beautiful of all the star’s other holdings. Both have tremendous historical significance and both are located in Provincial Southern France, which has a lovely climate.

Southern France has a rich history and fascinating culture. Most of Southern France is very rural and agricultural, but in France, it can be very chic to be rural and agricultural, especially if one lives in a historic castle, chateau, or historic mansion.

Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp have enjoyed a similar lifestyle in France, far away from star-struck admirers. They can each relax and enjoy the lovely climate and amazing scenery.

Johnny Depp, though, discovered it’s not all fun games and relaxation, Johnny Depp reportedly spent additional millions and relied heavily on his own labor to restore the french provincial village. There are more than a dozen separate structures in a 34-acre area, according to Variety. The total interior square footage is about 10,000 square feet, with 15 bedrooms and 14 baths.

Brad Pitt’s Chateau Miraval also contains numerous structures, sits on 1,200 acres and dates back to the 17th Century, according to People. Both Johnny Depp’s home and Brad Pitt’s home include their own separate chapel.

Both Brad Pitt’s Chateau Miraval and Johnny Depp’s French Village are located in Providence, which is a large area that borders Greece. It is near the French Alps but also has a long coastline of lovely white sand beaches to the south.
