A worker at the Animals of Montana facility was killed on Sunday morning after he entered the enclosure of several grizzly bears. The 24-year-old man’s identity has not been revealed at this time.
According to the Bozeman Daily Chronicle , authorities responded to a call at the facility at approximately 10:24 am.
The Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office says the man was mauled to death by at least one and possibly several captive-bred grizzly bears.
Police are still waiting to notify the Pennsylvania man’s next of kin before releasing his name to the general public.
Following the tragic death of the facility work Chuck Watson, attorney for Animals of Montana’s owner Troy Hyde said:
“It’s obviously a tragic situation, and I don’t think we’ll ever know exactly what happened.”
The grizzly was put down by staff members so facility workers could retrieve the man’s body.
Animals of Montana is a company that provides various wild animals for photography shoots, motion pictures, and other events. The company works with grizzly bears, African lions, minks, badgers, bobcats, and various other wild animals.
The Gallatin County Coroner and game wardens are investigating the young man’s death to determine exactly how events inside the enclosure led to the mauling death.
