Tired of his life in captivity, this octopus saw a chance to escape his tank at Seattle Aquarium and took it.
As the octopus sought his freedom, kids were heard screaming in the background either in support of the sea critter, or in horror. Either way, Ink, as he’s called, unfortunately did not make it very far.
His slow escape came to an abrupt halt when a Seattle Aquarium employee pushed the octopus back into its glass tank.
The video was initially posted to LiveLeak on Wednesday by a man who was visiting the aquarium at the time of the incident. And since then, the footage has gone viral, as people have found a certain level of fascination with the octopus’ brazen escape.
Not everyone agrees that Ink was looking for a way out, though — according to the Seattle Aquarium’s Tim Kuniholm, the “video has been blown out of proportion.”
Kuniholm states that the octopus was new to the exhibition at the aquarium and was just exploring his boundaries.
“It’s a new octopus ‘Ink’ in a new exhibit exploring his boundaries,” Kuniholm told Q13 Fox News . “In the video that’s been shared by the public, it’s one of our staff members helping Ink bank into his exhibit after exploring the edge.”
Ok Kuniholm, if you say so, but for the rest of us – this octopus was looking for a way out.
In recent weeks, octopuses have been making the rounds on social media, with one taking on a crab in a life or death battle, and another stealing a camera to take selfies .
