Donald Trump Brandishes Bible In Attempt To Sway Religious Voters — ‘I Believe In The Bible’

As Donald Trump continues to gain speed in the 2016 United States presidential election, he has set his sights on voters further to the right, rather than trying to rally moderate support from somewhere in the middle. To gain the trust of conservative voters, Donald Trump has resorted to appealing to those with religious faith by declaring that he believes in the Bible.

According to CNN , Donald Trump spoke to a crowd of conservative Iowa citizens at the Values Voter Summit on Friday, and he brought his own personal copy of the Bible with him to demonstrate his religious faith.

“I brought my Bible,” said Donald Trump, showing the Bible to his audience. “You know, it’s the First Presbyterian Church, Jamaica [in Queens] and this was written by my mother, with my name, with my address, with everything. I saw this and I had to bring it.”

Donald Trump then suggested that the public apparently did not accept that he believed in the Bible or had any legitimate Christian affiliation and he wanted to dispel those rumors.

KXAN reported on Trump’s speech , claiming that the business mogul and former reality show star earned himself a reputation as a womanizer and a bully, which does not align with Christian values. Donald Trump even appeared to be pro-choice at one point in time, which many conservatives don’t agree with. But now Donald Trump is going out of his way to demonstrate his far-right leanings.

“I believe in God. I believe in the Bible. I’m a Christian,” Trump insisted.

The presidential hopeful also claims that the Bible is his favorite book.

Donald Trump took the opportunity to defend Christmas, which many Republicans believe is under attack by secularists in the government.

“The word ‘Christmas’ — I love Christmas. I love Christmas. You go to stores now, you don’t see the word ‘Christmas.’ It says ‘Happy Holidays’ all over. Remember the expression, ‘Merry Christmas?’ You don’t see it anymore. You’re going to see it if I get elected, I can tell you right now.”

Despite doing his best to prove himself to be a good Christian who believes in the Bible, Donald Trump continued his habit of using his campaign platform to lash out against other candidates on both the right and left. As reported by USA Today , Donald Trump attacked Republicans for failing to stand up for what they believe in, including the teachings of the Bible.

“These people, they’re babies, they’re babies,” he said.
