Chad DiMera and Abigail Devereaux finally had a chance to be happy on Days Of Our Lives . However, the young mother’s mental health deteriorated after Ben Weston kidnapped and nearly killed the couple known as “Chabby.” With Abby vanishing and nowhere to be found, will her disappearance change Chad in the long run? If so, how will Billy Flynn’s character deal with everything after he realizes she is really gone and not the same person he fell in love with?

As previously reported by The Inquisitr , Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) will return to visit Chad on Thursday’s episode of Days Of Our Lives . The dead DiMera patriarch will tell his son that Abigail Devereaux (Kate Mansi) may not be what is best for baby Thomas. Stefano will urge Chad to just focus on his child, but the young father doesn’t completely agree that is the way to go. He is still in love with Abigail and wants her found.
“Chabby” fans were hoping that Kate Mansi’s exit from Days Of Our Lives wouldn’t affect Chad and Abigail’s relationship too much. Even after she checked into a psychiatric facility, viewers still thought that the couple had a chance. It was assumed that Abigail would get treatment and when fans saw the “new Abigail Devereaux,” she would be back to her old self. However, everything seems to have changed for the worst.

On a previous episode of the NBC soap opera, Chad read the letter that Abigail left for him. Even though it was her handwriting, it just didn’t sound like Abby. Even Ciara Brady (Vivian Jovanni) was suspicious of the note. Later, Chad discovered that Andre DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) didn’t find the letter, but Abigail actually gave it to him. However, his description of the encounter with Abby didn’t make much sense. There is a high probability that Andre is lying, omitting, or twisting certain facts. Some fans are even wondering if Andre has taken Abby and is hiding her somewhere.
So, how will Abigail’s disappearance affect Chad in the future? Even though the Days Of Our Lives character seems determined to find her now, he will eventually give up. Kate Mansi’s replacement, Marci Miller, will not appear on television screens until fall 2016, Entertainment Weekly reported. That means DOOL fans will have to wait a few months before Abby is seen again. Eventually, Chad will accept that Abigail really is gone and will adjust to life as a single father. Even though he has Ciara as a nanny, Melissa Reeves told TV Insider that Chad will be facing a custody battle with Abby’s mom, Jennifer Horton.
In the long run, it seems likely that Chad will change drastically due to Abigail’s hospitalization, self-harm, hallucinations, arson attempt, and running away. There is only so much a person can take before they either snap or go numb. Chad has become a good man, but something like this could turn him into someone who is bitter and angry. Could fans be seeing a very different side of Chad DiMera in the future? Will everything with Abigail Devereaux result in Chad turning into his father and uncle? Fans will just have to keep watching to find out.
