ArenaNet Reopens Guild Wars 2 Digital Sales

Not long after the launch of Guild Wars 2 , ArenaNet made the rather surprising decision to shut down digital sales after a flood of new players overwhelmed the servers which caused less than ideal conditions for players.

Nearly two weeks later, ArenaNet is now feeling more confident that its servers will be able to hold extra load, and so the company announced earlier on in the day that digital sales have officially been reopened. If you’ve been patiently waiting for the game to go back on sale, you’re now good to go.

“Since suspending sales, ArenaNet and NCsoft have substantially expanded the game’s capacity by deploying new servers in both North America and Europe, and by nearly doubling the number of customer support agents,” ArenaNet announced. “Game systems that have been under extremely heavy demand, such as the Trading Post, have been bolstered and prepared for the continued influx of players.”

By all accounts , it sounds like all of the problems players were experiencing with Guild Wars 2 are starting to be sorted out. The trading post is no longer down basically 90 percent of the day, a more even distribution of players means less time spent in Overflow, and all of the issues with guilds and parties are starting to become a thing of the past. Granted, it’s not completely resolved yet.

Even when all of the problems were still going on, Guild Wars 2 still managed to be a solid, engaging experience. Our very own Wolff Bachner was thoroughly impressed , calling the MMO a redefining experience. With what time I’ve had with the game, I’m inclined to agree.
