A play based on the life and music of Amy Winehouse is expected to open in 2013 in Copenhagen.
According to Today , the the Winehouse play will feature music from her two records “Frank” and “Back to Black”. The play will also, according to the performance’s organizers, focus on “the enormous pressure a sensationalist public put on a young superstar when her problems began.”
The play will be using information from various types of sources including interviews, acceptance speeches, concerts, newspaper articles, letters, and songs.
Even though the Winehouse family had no involvement in the production of the play, the play should still be a sight to see. The late singer’s family remains proud of her and the miss her. Winehouse’s dad states, “I miss her more than I can say.”
The role of Amy Winehouse will be portrayed by 29-year-old actress Johanne Louise Schmidt, and the show is set to open January 30th at the Danish Royal Theatre’s Red Room that has a capacity of 220.
Winehouse, who struggled for a long time with alcohol and drug use, died from alcohol poisoning last year.
Recently, collaborators Nas and Tony Bennett, as well as producer Salaam Remi, were the first to be honored at the Amy Winehouse Inspiration Awards & Gala. The gala was hosted by the Amy Winehouse Foundation, whose U.S. branch supports music therapy and after school music programs.
