A Def Leppard divorce is in the works, though not involving the band itself. Guitarist Vivian Campbell has filed for an official split from wife of 25 years, Julie Campbell.
The Def Leppard divorce involves a marriage that predates Campbell’s union with the band. Vivian Campbell joined up with Def Leppard back in 1992, but the couple got hitched half a decade prior in 1987.
And, after a quarter century together, the Def Leppard divorce has come to pass due to the old-standby, “irreconcilable differences.”
Back in 2010, Campbell spoke a bit about his family during a Guitar International interview. The guitarist recalled that wife Julie had inspired him to do a blues record in addition to his Def Leppard work, joking:
“About twenty years ago, my wife heard me sing. She said ‘You know, you sing like a blues guy. You play guitar like a blues guy, too. Maybe you should do a blues record.’ I laughed, and told her to go away and stop being a silly woman. [ Laughs ]”
TMZ first reported the Def Leppard divorce, noting that Campbell had filed for the motion in Los Angeles Superior Court and giving a few details on the filing in the case:
“According to docs… the rock-star couple tied the knot waaaaay back in Feb. 1987. They have two young daughters together, ages 13 and 11… Campbell is asking for joint legal and physical custody of the girls… he’s asking the judge to deny spousal support to Julie.”
Campbell has not commented publicly on the Def Leppard divorce.
