Dr. Dre has confirmed that Eminem’s new studio is almost complete.
Dre is working as the producer on the record, which will be Marshall Mather’s eighth effort, and he has revealed that he has been so impressed by the songs that he has become inspired to work on his own new music.
“Em is finishing up his project,” Dre told Power 106 FM . “And for me man, i’ve just got inspired again to go back into the studio. I’m just really having fun with life and having fun with being creative and trying new and different things with myself, just trying to stay active.”
Recently, Paul Rosenberg , the president of Eminem’s record label, Shady Records, revealed that he expected a new album to be with us by 2013.
“We fully expect to be releasing a new Eminem album in 2013. He’s been working on it for some time. It’s safe to say that it will be post-Memorial Day at some point, but we’re not exactly sure when. We’ve got some dates locked in for him to perform live in Europe in August, so we’re trying to see what else lines up.”
Dre himself hasn’t released an album since his seminal classic, 2001, and the hip-hop stalwart gave no word on when we can expect to hear a follow up.
“As you know, it’s been almost 30 years for me in music. It’s a little bit difficult to keep getting inspired to get back in there but you know, music is my first love and I’m going to continue to do that as long as I can,” added Dre.
Dre’s third album, entitled Detox, after 1992’s The Chronic and 1999’s 2001 , has been in the works for over a decade. It was originally touted for 2005 but was then delayed until 2010. This hasn’t stopped a hoard of rappers, which has included Snoop Dogg and Jay-Z, from being linked with the project.
