Meek Mill may have just been utterly destroyed by Drake in a series of diss tracks, but the Philadelphia rapper may still come out of the situation a winner, a former adviser to President Obama said.
The feud started when Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill tweeted an accusation that Drake doesn’t write his own songs. Drake, who once vowed to stay away from feuds, broke that this week when he released the diss track “ Charged Up .” Meek Mill called it “baby lotion soft” and vowed to respond, but he never did. Instead, it was Drake releasing another diss, “Back To Back,” that’s set the internet ablaze.
Drake seemed a bit reluctant in his lyrics, rapping “When I look back, I might be mad that I gave this attention.” But at the same time, he’s crushed Meek Mill and his relationship with Nicki Minaj.
“You love her then you gotta give the world to her / Is that a world tour or your girl’s tour?/ I know that you gotta be a thug for her / This ain’t what she meant when she told you to open up more”
While Drake is the consensus winner of the feud , some think that Meek Mill may have more to benefit from it. For one, the Philadelphia rapper, who remains largely unknown outside to the general public, now has his name all over the news, even if it’s for a bad reason.
Meek Mill is just about to drop an album, a fact that wasn’t lost on Dan Pfeiffer, a former adviser to President Obama.

The feud has brought some other interesting results, including a largely level-headed discussion about the use of ghostwriting. A number of other rappers have outsourced their verses, dating back to when Run-D.M.C. wrote large chunks of the Beastie Boys’ debut album, License To Ill .
Lupe Fiasco also weighed in on Instagram: “Ghostwriting, or borrowing lines, or taking suggestions from the room has always been in rap and will always be in rap. It is nothing to go crazy over or be offended about unless you are someone who postures him or herself on the importance of authenticity and tries to portray that quality to your fans or the public at large. Then we might have a problem.”
But whatever benefit he may have from the increased attention, Meek Mill apparently wants nothing to do with the feud with Drake. The Philadelphia rapper remains silent after the back-to-back diss tracks.
