Photo Doggies For Anthony is a Facebook event that has over 800,000 attendees. If you have a Facebook account, you have probably noticed that a lot of your friends are “attending,” or you may have even received an invitation yourself. If you haven’t, however, here’s why you should attend.
For starters, the event is virtual, so you won’t need to leave the comfort of your home to participate. It was set up by a woman named Kristen Lyons, who wanted to help her friend and her friend’s son, Anthony. The 16-year-old boy is at Phoenix Children’s hospital being treated for leukemia.
The Photo Doggies For Anthony event was created because Anthony loves dogs. Facebook users have been asked to post photos of their dogs, so that Anthony can look at them every day. The photos cheer him up, and people seem more than happy to make Anthony’s day a little bit brighter. Of course, his family had no idea just how popular this event would be, and have been completely overwhelmed with all the warm wishes — and the happy pics of puppies around the nation.
“I cannot express the joy we have gotten from these photos. We have looked at each and every photo and video and we laugh and sometimes cry just from the outpouring of support. I will never be able to thank you all enough and all of you are the amazing people that have your best friend pets by your side day in and day out. We are so incredibly thankful for you sharing and loving your pets as much as we love ours. Thank you thank you thank you,” read a message on the page.
Photo Doggies For Anthony is starting to gain some serious traction. According to ABC News , Anthony has been in and out of the hospital for treatment, and is in this week for chemo.
