Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic drop into Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show” ahead of their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with the posthumous induction of their former bandmate Kurt Cobain. The trio made up the legendary band Nirvana which is credited, at least partly, for changing the face of rock music in the early ’90s with their ‘grunge rock’ style.
Before Dave Grohl and Novoselic sat with Fallon, they introduced Fallon and Stevie Nicks to perform the song “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around,” a hit that Nicks had with Tom Petty in the ’80s. Speaking of the posthumous induction of Kurt Cobain, Novoselic said, “It’s also bittersweet, because our friend Kurt’s been gone for 20 years,” continuing, “He should be here.”
The interview was focused on memories of being in Nirvana. Dave Grohl and Novoselic discuss infamous stories such as touring in a van despite their gold record, playing “Saturday Night Live,” and a time when Dave Grohl and Cobain destroyed his drum set at a Nirvana show in Chicago because it sounded terrible.
Dave Grohl also discusses playing with Paul McCartney bringing a real down to earth image to the rock God.

It has been reported that Joan Jett will step in for Kurt Cobain at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony this evening (April 10). A picture was Instagramed by Dave Grohl showing his drum set, Novoselic’s bass and Pat Smear’s guitar along with a guitar owned by Joan Jett. The release of this picture started a firestorm of tweets, some happy, some not so much.

In other Dave Grohl news, it appears that he will be making a hometown appearance in Virginia to emcee a celebration of local music, the D.C. Funk/Punk Spectacular on May 5. The show coincides with the birthday of legendary funk band frontman “Big Tony” of the DC band Trouble Funk. Dave Grohl is said to be participating in the music through a one time super group featuring Grohl and members of the bands Scream and Bad Brains called the Don’t Need Its.
