Gwyneth Paltrow: Vanity Fair Looking Into Alleged Affair [Report]
The Gwyneth Paltrow vs. Vanity Fair feud just got uglier as the fashion magazine is reportedly investigating an alleged extra-marital affair.
Despite Paltrow’s best efforts lobbying for friends not to speak to the magazine about her upcoming “takedown” as the piece is being called, she can’t stop the presses.
On Monday, Vanity Fair’s editor-in-chief Graydon Carter said the article will be published as planned, no matter the star’s complaints.
Now, on Friday, word comes that Gwyneth Paltrow will be in some hot water since the feature suggests that she allegedly had an affair with Miami millionaire Jeff Soffer.
Page Six in The New York Post says the writer of the scathing piece has been investigating whether there was an affair between Paltrow and Soffer, who is the owner of the famed Fountainbleu Hotel.
Page Six is looking into the possibility that in 2008 the pair became more than friends. At the time, Jeff Soffer was re-opening the Miami landmark and flew Gwyneth Paltrow in for the event. She also stayed at his place while in the city.
Paltrow’s rep told Us Weekly in a statement on Friday, that the allegations are “ridiculous”.
“She has been friends with him for a long time.” the statement reads. “Chris [Martin] is friends with him as well. He flew down a dozen friends. There was no romantic relationship.”
The New York Times published an article in September which alleged that Gwyneth Paltrow was asking friends not to speak to Vanity Fair for their “takedown” piece.
Back in 2008 the Post reported on the encounter between Paltrow and Soffer, after they were seen leaving the hotel together and joining other friends the next day.
Her rep denied that there was anything going on then, saying, “Jeff Soffer is a friend of Gwyneth.”
The 41-year-old Iron Man star has been very vocal about the relationship with her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, whom she married in 2003.
“It’s hard being married,” she told Glamour UK in June of this year. “You go through great times, you go through terrible times. We’re the same as any couple.”
According to Chelsea Handler, Paltrow is a “sex addict”, which she didn’t deny and when asked what position she prefers in bed she only said, “I’m down with all of them.”
Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin have two children, Apple, 9, and Moses, 7, while Jeff Soffer is married to former supermodel Elle MacPperson. Stay tuned for the Vanity Fair report.
