‘Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones’ Trailer Reveals Series Plans [VIDEO]

The Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones trailer was released yesterday, revealing plans for more installments in the series.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Paramount Pictures said they planned to release two Paranormal Activity movies in 2014, but none this year.

The trailer begins with an ominous promise…”This is only the beginning.” The newest movie follows a plot that was hinted at previously, focusing on a Catholic inquiry into a reported demonic possession. “This is some black magic stuff,” a character declares in the trailer.

The newest installment appears to target a strong Latino fanbase and features mostly Latino characters. The movie is set in Mexican neighborhoods of Los Angeles, a very Catholic culture. Apparently, the demon from the Paranormal Activity is back, this time destroying an inner city Hispanic community.

The plot features teenagers who learn of a neighbor’s death and go exploring the crime scene. One starts developing strange abilities and experiencing lost time. The new movie is blend of the usual Paranormal Activity themes, featuring a “found footage” premise and a bit of continuity with the usual storyline. The main difference is the overwhelming religious theme, which is very strong in Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones.

Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones will be released on January 3, 2014. It will be followed by Paranormal Activity 5, which is due out next October.
