Ashley Olsen Says She’s Too Busy To Be Bothered By Paparazzi

Ashley Olsen isn’t bothered by paparazzi too much — she’s just too busy.

The actress and fashion designer said she’s come to learn how to avoid the shutterbugs that pester other celebrities, and it lies in hard work.

“There is a threshold in New York, and once you pass that and are considered a New Yorker, they leave you alone,” Ashley told Net-a-Porter’s The Edit. “But we’re at the office every day, then home or out for dinner, so there aren’t the opportunities for them to take pictures. For the most part you try and avoid it… [I do], at least.”

But after making her television debut as an infant, Ashley Olsen added that she and sister Mary-Kate are used to fame.

“We were 9 months old when we started, so fame has always been part of our lives,” Ashley said. “There wasn’t any weirdness where we decided that we wanted to be famous. Then as we got older, we were very fortunate that we could hire and work with amazing people who want to protect us.”

After rising to fame on the ABC family sitcom Full House, the Olsen twins went on to make a fortune from direct-to-video movies along with a handful of mainstream releases.

But as they’ve gotten into their late 20s, the sisters have decided to chart a new course in the world of fashion. They have a number of brands, including luxury lines The Row and Elizabeth and James, and last year Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen won 2012 Womenswear Designers of the Year award at the CFDA Awards.

Mary-Kate said it was actually on the set of Full House — where they would design clothes for themselves — that they fell in love with fashion.

“So I think that is when we became obsessed with fit, and now the obsession has become a profession,” she said.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen appear to have a bright future in fashion, with expansions in both their high-end and affordable lines as well as a new perfume.
