Britney Spears Advocates James Franco For Christian Grey Role

Britney Spears isn’t afraid to let people know who she’s currently crushing on. Spears, who calls herself a huge Brad Pitt fan, has a certain star in mind for the role of Christian Grey. Spears wants James Franco to play the role of Christian Grey now that Charlie Hunnam is out of the tantalizing adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey.

Britney Spears was asked the popular question during a KIIS-FM interview in the UK on Wednesday, October, 16, and it was a no-brainer for the singer. Of Franco, she said: “I love James Franco. I think he’s really cool.”

Although Franco may not have the right look for Christian Grey, he’s definitely no stranger in taking on taboo roles. Franco has received attention for his role in Howl, as the openly gay poet Allen Ginsberg, and as a rapping gangster in the cult hit Spring Breakers.

James Franco as Christian Grey may have to live in Britney Spears’ dreams, as it doesn’t look like Universal is interested in the 127 Hours actor for the part. So far, it’s been reported that the studio is looking closely at Jamie Dornan and Alexander Skarsgaard. The two actors seem to be pretty popular with fans of the series, although White Collar’s Matt Bomer is still at the top of everyone’s list for the role of Christian Grey.

People who reportedly passed on the role of Christian Grey are Ryan Gosling, Robert Pattinson, and Garrett Hedlund.

As soon as Charlie Hunnam dropped out of the Fifty Shades of Grey role, attention was put on his co-star Dakota Johnson, who is currently cast as Anastasia Steele. However, it looks like Johnson is here to stay in the role of Anastasia. A source told HollywoodLife:

“She is in constant contact with producers and the studio and she is very willing to help out in any way and is looking forward to do readings with everyone who is available for the role. She is taking things well since she is still a part of the film.”
