Mischa Barton Is ‘Stronger Now,’ Ready To Focus On Her Career

Mischa Barton recently opened up about her breakdown, the pressure she felt from the press, and her newfound focus on film. According to the actress, she is much “stronger now” and ready to get back to work.

During her chat with People magazine, the former O.C. star said that she spent a lot of time working and playing hard. This lifestyle ultimately took its toll on her.

“It was a full-on breakdown,” Barton told the publication. The actress added that she was under “enormous pressure” at the time.

Although Mischa Barton said she tried to get her life back in order, finding a happy medium resulted in changes to her physical appearance. Instead of saying that she was too thin, the media decided to criticize her for putting on too much weight.

“It was always, ‘She’s too skinny, she must be sick.’ Then it was, ‘She’s too big.’ I was never the right weight,” the actress explained.

After appearing in a string of ho-hum movies, Barton decided to get her life back in order. Now that she’s stronger, the actress wants to get her career back on the right track. According to Internet Movie Database, Barton is currently slated to appear in a number of upcoming projects.

Included among the new movies is directors Timothy Woodward Jr. and Wes Miller’s Beyond Justice and Harrison Smith’s horror flick Zombie Killers: Elephant’s Graveyard. Barton also has a role in the horror-comedy L.A. Slasher.

In addition to these smaller projects, Mischa Barton will appear alongside John Cusack and Sean Young in the thriller Kickback. I Will Follow You Into the Dark and the Cynthia Rothrock action flick Knockout are also reportedly on the agenda.

Fans of Mischa Barton can check out the full interview with People magazine when the issue hits newsstands on Friday (October 18). Are you a fan of the former O.C. star?
