Britney Spears Names New Album ‘Britney Jean’

Britney Spears meet Britney Jean.

The pop singer recently unveiled the title of her new album and no, it’s not a tribute to Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean.” According to CNN, “Britney Jean” was actually the pop singer’s nickname when she was growing up.

Spears said: “It’s a personal album, and all my family, they always call me Britney Jean… It’s like a term of endearment, and I just wanted to share that with my fans.”

Spears has slowly been leaking information about her new album. Fans know that she’s working with Will.i.am and William Orbit on the new album. They also know that her single “Work Bitch” is pretty awesome.

Fans are also expecting the new album to feature some fun guests but Spears hasn’t released the details just yet.

Spears said: “You’ll have to wait and see.”

Britney revealed the album’s new title during an appearance on London’s 95-106 Capital FM. After the show ended, Britney wrote on Twitter: “Cat’s out of the bag people…. #BritneyJean!!! Bringing ALL of me to the music… DECEMBER 3.”

Will.i.am told Billboard earlier this month that “Work Bitch” was a good reflection of Britney but not necessarily of “Britney Jean.”

The producer said: “That song is a reflection of Britney moreso than the album…. The album is what the album is, but we felt that song needed to come out to keep the foundation on what Britney represents. But it shouldn’t reflect the album—an album is a body of work as a collective. If we had to pick a song like, ‘Oh, what song fits every color of the record,’ you shouldn’t do that… We felt that song represents ‘Piece of Me,’ that Britney oomph.”
