Taylor Swift Doesn’t Want To Be Compared To Madonna

You can talk about Taylor Swift all you want, but please don’t compare her to Madonna. The singer says she’s just a girl who likes to write songs in her bedroom.

During a recent conversation with the folks at The Associated Press, the singer was asked if she felt like Madonna following her recent success. Although the two are both formidable artists in the world of pop music, Swift doesn’t really like the comparison.

“I would never see myself that way. I see myself as kind of this girl who writes songs in her bedroom,” the singer reportedly told the outlet.

She added, “You can kind of dress it up all you want and you can put together an amazing theatrical production, you can become a better performer as time goes by, and you can try to excite people, but I’m always going to be a girl who writes songs in her bedroom in my own personal perception of myself.”

Taylor Swift said she doesn’t spend a lot of time thinking about what her fans and detractors think. Instead of getting wrapped up in the gossip and rumors, she avoids this sort of discussion altogether.

“And I think it’s important that I don’t necessarily think too hard about what everybody else’s perception of me is or else I’d just get completely lost in it. It’s just easier to think of myself that way,” the singer explained.

According to Entertainmentwise, Swift is the first female performer since Madonna to embark on a stadium tour of Australia. Although she may not like the comparisons, this is one feat that she should definitely be proud to celebrate.

Once she’s finished her tour Down Under, the singer will make the jump to the United Kingdom. Swift will reportedly play several shows at London’s O2 Arena next year.

Are you a fan of Taylor Swift? Do you think the singer should embrace or reject the recent comparisons to Madonna?
