London shop to offer real breast milk ice cream

Have you ever tasted actual human breast milk?

I wouldn’t recommend it, unless you are a nursing baby. However, if you really have a massive urge to try it and are in London, you can sample actual breast milk ice cream at an ice cream shop in Covent Garden. Breast milk ice cream isn’t cheap- it’s £14 a serving, or $23 in American cash-money. 35-year-old Victoria Hiley, one of 14 lactating women to supply milk for Icecreamists, says she is a breastfeeding advocate and explained her motivation for donating a boob-juice sample:

‘I saw the advert offering to pay women to donate breast milk on a forum and it made me laugh.

‘There were so many comments and people were having a debate on whether it could be genuine. So I thought I’d find out.’

Icecreamists founder Matt O’Connor says the product isn’t just a novelty thing:

‘The Baby Gaga tastes creamy and rich. No-one’s done anything interesting with ice cream in the last hundred years. We’ve came up with a method of infusing ice-cream with breast milk. We wanted to completely reinvent it… And by using breast milk we’ve definitely given it a one hundred percent makeover. Its just one of a dozen radical new flavours we’ve invented. We want to change the way people think about ice cream’.

Donors were tested, ostensibly for disease or other nasty things, prior to offering up their wares.

Update: Apparently, this is not the first breast milk ice cream rodeo. Huh.
