Apple To Shareholders: North Carolina Data Center For MobileMe, iTunes

That huge new data center Apple is getting ready to open in North Carolina will be used solely for Apple iTunes and MobileMe applications according to a company statement made today.

Apple announced the data centers planned use when speaking with shareholders at their annual meeting on Wednesday.

Apple also revealed that “corporate systems” would be housed at the new building which is set to open “sometime this Spring.”

While no specific details have been revealed, it’s expected that the new cloud-based iTunes service which has been rumored for some time now will run out of the center, while MobileMe should see a good deal of expansion.
