Government Shutdown Bear The Saddest Photo Plant You’ve Ever Seen

Meet government shutdown bear, also known as sad kid at the zoo.

He’s probably the saddest photo plant you’ve ever seen and the new “unofficial mascot” of the 2013 government shutdown.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, the government shutdown has recently led to the creation of a movement to drunk dial congress after the purposefully painful closing of Yellowstone national parks.

The minuscule government shutdown bear earned mascot status after “superbonnie” posted the picture on Reddit and the photo was then Tweeted by Alex Fitzpatrick from Time magazine when it went viral.

Many other sad pictures and stories of the effects of the government shutdown are circulating the internet and they speak to the ridiculousness of the government shutdown better than words could.

The sad kid at the zoo, however, is also creating a whirl of skepticism. Many are viewing the picture with a cynical eye seeing nothing more than a calculated political prop:

But others see the event captured in the photo as entirely possible on it’s own merit. Just ask Reddit user “petedacook”:

“Call me a sucker, but I could see someone bringing their kid to the zoo. I have seen posts of people going to parks in the hopes the park is open, only to find the park closed, yes, this actually happens. Not everything on Reddit is staged for Karma.”

What do you think of the tiny government shutdown bear: real or staged?
