Lamar Odom Pleads Not Guilty To DUI Charges

Lamar Odom pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to a charge of driving under the influence stemming from an August 30 arrest.

Odom’s attorney, Richard Hutton, entered the plea, as the basketball star wasn’t in court for the arraignment. The former Laker forward was arrested by the California Highway Patrol in the early hours of August 30 after officers noticed him driving erratically.

CBS Los Angeles reports that Odom was pulled over by the CHP after he exited the freeway in Studio City. According to the arresting officer, Ming Hsu, the basketball player was showing “objective signs or symptoms of intoxication and was unable to perform field sobriety tests as explained.”

Odom also refused all chemical tests during booking and had his driver’s license suspended for a year because of the refusal. The star was released after he posted his $15,000 bail.

CNN notes that the basketball forward is currently a free agent who played in the NBA for 14 years with the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, and the Los Angeles Clippers.

Lamar Odom is married to reality TV star Khloe Kardashian. The couple married in 2009 after courting for 30 days. The couple appears often on Keeping Up With The Kardashians and had their on reality show, Khloe and Lamar, which aired on the E! Network.

While their marriage appeared to be going well in the reality shows, it has reportedly deteriorated this summer. Khloe took out her frustrations on Twitter before her husband’s arrest in August, saying, “Really hard to sit here and listen to people talk [expletive] about my family! [Expletive] you and shame on you!”

Since then, reports have come to light that Odom is, or at least was, addicted to pain medications. Other rumors suggest the couple may be getting a divorce. They were spotted together in public this week for the first time in three months.

Lamar Odom’s next court date for his DUI case was set for November 8.
