Dallas High School Teacher Under Fire For Playboy Past

A 21-year-old Dallas high school teacher is under fire for her Playboy past.

Cristy Nicole Deweese is a ISD spanish teacher at Townview Magnet High School in Dallas according to the New York Daily News, and up until recently, she’s had a pretty normal life.

Well, besides the fact that most of her students now know she posed for Playboy in the past.

The International Business Times reported that at the age of 18, Deweese was featured as “Coed of the Month” for Playboy’s website.

The report continues on to say that the racy photos are still accessible online, even though they were originally posted in February 2011.

According to Dallas News, the school district is very much aware of the situation, stating, “This is a personnel matter, and it will not be discussed.”

Because these photos had been posted well before the school district actually hired her, it is still unclear as to what may happen regarding Deweese’s place at the school.

The International Business Times reported Debbie Ratcliffe, a Texas education spokeswoman, saying that the situation is a “murky” one.

“It wasn’t an illegal activity, but it raises the question about whether that action violated the Educators’ Code of Ethics,” Ratcliffe said.

According to ABC News, both students and parents have spoken out on the situation at hand.

One student, Zipporah Long, told ABC News that when she was told about Deweese’s past in Playboy, she was “just shocked.”

Esmeralda Landa-Soch told ABC News that she believed that the situation would be “more distructive for the boys,” because they wouldn’t see the teacher as a role model.

While talking to ABC News, Deweese stated that she had modeled since she was 17-years-old, and that she did the Playboy modeling to help pay for her college expenses.

She continued on to say that she made sure to stop her Playboy modeling more than a year before she took a teaching position.

While many think she deserves the consequences of possibly losing her job, many believe that she shouldn’t be fired.

One student told ABC News, “She’s not provocative, she’s not anything,” said Hilare Lopez, “She’s like, a really good teacher.”

Because her future at the school is unclear, the Dallas teacher with a Playboy past refuses to talk in anymore detail on the subject.
