Barbie Jeep Ticketed In Utah As ‘Abandoned’ Vehicle

A pink Barbie Jeep was ticketed in Utah recently, by an officer who said the move was a friendly joke.

The Barbie Jeep was “abandoned,” and “blocking” a driveway due to a run down battery. Owner Autumn, seven, wasn’t the named party on the citation though — and it seems like Barbie herself can add something to her resume… scofflaw!

The police officer who ticketed the Barbie Jeep explains the ticket served a public safety purpose, and it wasn’t to scare little girls. When he wrote out the citation to owner “Barbie,” he was trying to send a message to residents in American Fork.

No, not “don’t leave your toys out.” Police say that while the citation was “real,” it’s not meant to be enforced, and the idea was to reassure the neighborhood that police are watching.

Cops told KUTV:

“We would hope that people would appreciate the fact that we’re there in their neighborhood and we’re looking out for them and their property.”

Autumn’s dad says that he went to pull out of his driveway when he spotted the pink Barbie Jeep — blocking him in, as it were.

He was set to move the toy vehicle, when he noticed the orange ticket for an “abandoned vehicle,” and he recognized the telltale signs of a looming fine.

He explains:

“Unfortunately, I have received my share of tickets… This is definitely my favorite ticket that I have received.”

After Autumn got her first ticket, the little girl says she’ll definitely be sure to put the car in the garage at the end of the day to avoid future marks on Barbie’s driving record.

Cops also say that while the Barbie Jeep ticket was not a real one, actual cars left abandoned or on curbs are still subject to fines and citations in the jurisdiction.
