TI To Recur On ‘House Of Lies’

TI has signed on for a recurring role on Showtime’s House of Lies.

The Atlanta rapper will play Lukas, who co-owns a clothing company with childhood friend Dre (Mekhi Phifer). Lukas and Dre bring in Marty Kaan (Don Cheadle) to help them expand their business. Phifer joined the series at the end of August.

TI previously starred in the Starz series Boss alongside Kelsey Grammer and Connie Nielsen. The series ran for two seasons, and Starz announced the show’s cancellation on November 20, 2012. He also made a cameo appearance on Entourage in 2008 and appeared on Hawaii Five-0 last year.

Happy Endings star Eliza Coupe was also recently cast in House of Lies. She will play a wealthy and eccentric heiress of a family owned media empire. She will balance the role with the CBS comedy The Millers, which stars Will Arnett, Beau Bridges, Margo Martindale, and Jayma Mays.

Showtime renewed House of Lies for a third season on January 29, a little more than two weeks after the season two premiere, which drew 1.19 million viewers. The network also renewed Californication and Shameless for a fourth and seventh season, respectively.

“‘Californication,’ ‘House of Lies,’ and ‘Shameless’ possess highly distinctive comedic voices, and given that all three continue to grow their audience season after season — the pick-up decision was easy,” Showtime’s president of entertainment David Nevins said in a statement. “I am incredibly excited to see what each of these series has in store for their next seasons.”

The second season finale of House of Lies aired on April 7 and drew 0.86 million viewers. The series is based on the book House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Then Tell You the Timeby Martin Kihn. The series also stars Kristen Bell as Jeannnie van der Hooven, Marty’s right-hand woman, Ben Schwartz as Clyde Oberholt, a marketing guy, and Josh Lawson as Doug Guggenheim, a numbers guy.
