Pro Bowl Uniforms: Nike Unveils Futuristic (Ugly) Uniforms

Nike unveiled its new NFL Pro Bowl uniforms this morning and they look…. interesting.

Nike decided to ditch the traditional red and blue colors that have represented the NFC and AFC for years in favor of Bright orange and volt yellow. If that color scheme looks familiar it’s the same one used for the Oregon Ducks.

One user writes on ESPN: “Way to think outside the box, Phil. It is Oregon St vs. Oregon. Next year will be Gryffindor vs. Slytherin.”

The “Phil” in the comment is referring to Nike chairman Phil Knight whose Alma matter is Oregon.

Other commentators chimed in to tell Nike that the uniforms were pretty hideous. Thankfully, most of those users agreed that it really didn’t matter since no one watches the Pro Bowl.

One commentator added: “Ugliest things I’ve ever seen. Glad I haven’t watched the Pro Bowl in years.”

The NFL is revamping the Pro Bowl this year in the hopes of attracting a wider audience. This year’s Pro Bowl will feature a school yard format which will see the top player in the AFC and the top player in the NFC choose their teammates one by one. The players will get some help choosing their teams by former players Jerry Rice or Deion Sanders and two Fantasy Football experts.

The NFL Pro Bowl is getting a new format and new uniforms this year but some people are still skeptical about the game’s future.

Rice said: “How can you get the players to recognize that it’s an honor? You’ve got to play your best football in the Pro Bowl. So the spirit of this needs to be changed. I’m not sure that can be accomplished now.”
