Presidents Cup Streaker: I Just Wanted To Make Golf Exciting

A Presidents Cup streaker made a splash this weekend when she ran across the 18th fairway Muirfield in Dublin, Ohio, and says she did it for a good reason.

The young woman, wearing only a red, white, and blue thong and draped in an American flag, ran past golfers in a patriotic display. The act earned the woman a bit of internet fame and plenty of photos splashed across the web.

Though initial reports said the Presidents Cup streaker may have evaded police, new reports have found that she was indeed nabbed for her impromptu run.

The woman responsible for the near-naked interruption, Kimberly Webster, says she had a simple motivation for her streaking — golf was just too boring without it.

“I thought, imagine if someone streaked through this, it’d be hilarious, so we joked about it,” said Webster, who was working at a hospitality tent at the golf event. “I wanted to add a little excitement to golf because everyone seemed kind of depressed and like they weren’t having fun because of the weather. I hadn’t been to a lot of sporting events…I just thought it would be interesting to try something like this.”

In a way, the Presidents Cup streaker sees herself as a trailblazer.

“The top streakers of all time were all men, so I decided I wanted to change that…It was golf — it’s quiet and boring — and it was to make the top streakers of all time (as a woman).”

Webster said afterward she went to her grandmother’s home and the the reality of what she had done hit her. Kimberly said she was worried that she could be arrested and possibly branded as a sex offender.

The Presidents Cup streaker said police did catch up with her the next day, but she was let off easy. Webster said she was charged with a misdemeanor and faces a $99 fine.
