Turkey Hill Ice Cream Recalled Over Metal Shavings Risk


Ice cream maker, Turkey Hill, has recalled some of its ice cream over a risk that it might contain metal shavings.

According to ABC News, the recall was announced Friday, and covers the following:

“1.5-quart tubs of Fudge Ripple Premium Ice Cream as well as 1-pint packages of Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Premium Ice Cream and Moose Tracks Stuff’d Frozen Dairy Dessert.”

According to a press release on the company’s website, there have been no reported injuries and no reports of foreign objects being found in the actual ice cream itself.

The press release continued on to say that the specific products being recalled are as follows:

Turkey Hill Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Premium Ice Cream: Size 1 Pint (473 ml) with the UPC Code: 0-20735-42005-8, and a sell by date: 10/04/2014 42-092.

Turkey Hill Fudge Ripple Premium Ice Cream: Size 1.5 quart (48 Ounce) with the UPC Code: 0-20735-11011-9, and a sell by date: 09/30/2014 42-092.

Turkey Hill Moose Tracks Stuff’d Frozen Dairy Dessert: Size: 1 Pint (473 ml) with the UPC Code: 0-20735-42025-6 and a sell by date: 09/27/2014 42-092.

According to CBS News the company’s recall is a voluntary recall, and is limited to packages sold at selected Turkey Hill Minit Markets in Pennsylvania, “some Wal-Mart stores in Pennsylvania and West Virginia and other small grocers and convenience stores in Maryland and Pennsylvania.”

ABC News reported the company stating that all affected stores are directly delivered to and serviced b Turkey Hill Dairy and have been instructed to remove the product from their shelves.

Customers who have purchased the recalled ice cream have been instructed by the company to return the packages to the place of purchase for a refund or to call Turkey Hill Dairy at 1-800-MY-DAIRY.
