Daisy Gutierrez, Father Charged In Man’s Death And Dismemberment

Daisy Gutierrez, 19, and her father Salvador Gutierrez, 56, have been charged with a shocking crime — and police say the pair covered up the death of 30-year-old Jose Reyes, whose body was found in bags in their yard.

The story involving Daisy Gutierrez and her father is complicated, with another man accused of killing Reyes. The man, who has not been charged, has not yet been named by authorities.

According to news reports, Gutierrez is the mother of two children, ages two and one, and their father is Reyes’ brother Moncada Ramos. But a prosecutor says Reyes was interested in Daisy Gutierrez, a circumstance which led to his being lured to his death.

Assistant State’s Attorney Heather Kent says that Reyes was lured to Daisy’s bedroom, where she began to disrobe. At that point, it is believed her current boyfriend kicked in the door, slitting the 30-year-old victim’s throat and later decapitating Reyes.

After the alleged brutal murder, Kent says, Daisy Gutierrez called her father to report the pair had “fixed the problem,” and the unnamed lover of the woman then dismembered Reyes, according to police.

The body remained undisturbed for five months, until Reyes’ remains were located using a search warrant Friday. CBS Chicago reports that Daisy Gutierrez and father Salvador were charged Sunday in the murder:

“Daisy Gutierrez, 19, of the 5100 block of South Springfield, was charged with first-degree murder; her father Salvador Gutierrez, 56, of the 8300 block of South Scottsdale — where the remains were found Friday — was charged with concealing a homicidal death, police said. His bond was set at $500,000 during Sunday’s hearing where father and daughter appeared before before Cook County Judge Maria Kuriakos Ciesil.”

David Martinez, 31, a neighbor and friend of the Honduran immigrant, commented to the Chicago Tribune on the man’s fate. Martinez said:

“He was the nicest guy you could ever meet… He didn’t deserve what happened to him. The cruelty … that’s bad, that’s gruesome. Who does that?”

Moncada Ramos says Daisy Guttierez conspired to kill his brother for revenge, after he ended their relationship. A lawyer for Guttierez has requested she be held in the jail’s hospital, as she is currently three months pregnant.
