Willem Dafoe Hates New Spiderman Movie, Loves Finding Dory

Actor Willem Dafoe wants everyone to know that Pixar’s Finding Dory is better than the original movie Finding Nemo. Dafoe plays the voice of Gill in Pixar’s sequel to the massively successful Nemo flick.

Dafoe recently sat down with Total Film and says earlier voice parts for his role have already showcased a better flick than the original. According to Dafoe, “Yeah I’ve already started. It’s even better than the first. It’s fantastic. It’s good to say I think it’s going to be better than the first; that’s good advertising!”

Unfortunately fans of Finding Nemo will have to wait for the new film to debut in June 17, 2016 to determine if Willem Dafoe is correct or just the consummate salesman.

The Finding Dory animated film focuses on Dory as she tries to reunite with her family. Dory is voiced by the always hilarious Ellen Degeneres.

Dafoe admits that matching the success of such a big hit isn’t easy, especially when the new film will arrive many years after the original films audience has grown up.

You know what film Dafoe has no respect for? The Amazing Spider-Man. The famed actor says the new version of the popular movie series simply doesn’t live up to the original. As you may recall Dafoe played Green Goblin in the Sam Raimi led rendition of Spider-Man. Willem recently declared, “I saw a trailer for the first Spider-Man reboot and I thought, ‘This is crazy! It’s not shot for shot, but it’s the same story. I thought, ‘This is sort of a cynical approach to making money!’ I like Spider-Man, the first one that I was involved in, because although you can argue all sorts of things, from my perspective it was very pure.”

Dafoe believes the remake is missing the “real, genuine innocence” that made the first three films so riveting to watch.

Are you excited for Finding Dory? Do you agree with Willem Dafoe that The Amazing Spider-Man was a huge let down?
