Meg Ryan Is Living Quietly In NYC

In the 1980s and 1990s it was hard to find a box office hit that didn’t star Meg Ryan. The golden girl of Hollywood turned even the most brooding of romantic comedies into money-making gold.

People magazine wanted to catch up with the star’s life and they did so with the help of Ryans’ friend, and writer, Delia Ephron.

Ephron’s says of the different between living in NYC and LA: “Living in New York makes you different” because “Los Angeles is just about movies. New York is about so much more than that, and so is Meg.”

Epron’s sister Nora Ephron directed Sleepless in Seattle and You’ve Got Mail, two of Meg Ryan’s best known romantic comedies.

So what has Ryan been doing with herself? She spends most of her time with boyfriend John Mellencamp, and adopted daughter Daisy, 8.

Stepping away from the Hollywood spotlight has also allowed the When Harry Met Sally star to stop talking about her affair with Proof of Life co-star Russell Crowe. In 2000 it was revealed that Ryan and long-time husband Dennis Quad had both cheated on each other.

While Ryan came under fire for the affair she went on to tell InStyle:

“My time as a scarlet woman was really interesting. As painful as it was, it was also incredible liberating. Now I was utterly free. I didn’t have to care about what people thought. I have gotten to do what I guess I secretly wanted to do. Be totally under the radar and live my life.”
