Benedict Cumberbatch, Emma Watson Named Sexiest Movie Stars
Benedict Cumberbatch and Emma Watson are two of the rising stars in the British movie scene and now they have been named the sexiest stars in the world.
The movie magazine Empire, recently conducted a poll in which the two young stars came on top, edging out such names as Ryan Gosling and Jennifer Lawrence to take the honors.
Benedict Cumberbatch, who is known for being a bit of a recluse, has become one of the most sought after actors by movie studios and stars in several films this year including The Fifth Estate, Star Trek: Into Darkness, 12 Years A Slave, August: Osage County, and The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug.
Some of the other actors who Cumberbatch beat out in the poll are Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki in the upcoming Thor: The Dark World; Henry Cavill who is the most recent Superman in Man Of Steel,and the American, Gosling.
Joining Benedict Cumberbatch for the female top choice is the Harry Potter actress who plays Hermoine Granger, Emma Watson, also a rising star in the British movie making business.
The 23-year-old actress has practically grown before our eyes playing her role in the wizard franchise and now she is establishing herself as a talented artist.
Even though Cumberbatch had to fight off several British actors in the men category, Watson was the only Brit in the top ten women. Her closest compatriots were Keira Knightley (17), KateBeckinsale (19), and Gemma Arterton (20).
Cumberbatch was amused by the results of the poll,
“It puts a bit of a spring in your step,” he said. “It’s nice, you swagger a little bit, it’s enjoyable. I’ve punched well above my weight this year… I find it hysterically funny… It’s a giggle. I wield it with a massive smile.”
James Dyer, Empire’s digital editor commented,
“It’s a great result for British stars… This list also reflects the continuing popularity of superhero movies: six of the top ten men have played superheroes and five of the top ten women have appeared in comic-book movies.”
