Bob Newhart, Bill Nye To Guest Star On ‘Big Bang Theory’

The Big Bang Theory has landed a couple of big guest stars over its first six years and they’ll add a few more during season seven. CBS announced today that Bob Newhart and Bill Nye will be play rival scientists in an upcoming episode.

Bob Newhart played Professor Proton on the Big Bang Theory last year and ended up winning an Emmy Award. Surprisingly, it was Newhart’s first Emmy win.

Professor Proton will be returning to the hit show on November 7 and this time he will have a new rival: Bill Nye The Science Guy.

The Wrap reports that Professor Proton (Newhart) reaches out to Leonard (Johnny Galecki) for help on an experiment. A jealous Sheldon (Jim Parson) decides to team up with Proton’s TV host rival, Nye, to conduct a competing experiment.

Bill Nye is best known for his kids television show Bill Nye The Science Guy but he recently made a couple new fans thanks to his stint on Dancing With The Stars. Nye has already been eliminated from the show but he left in style by doing the robot to Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky.”

Nye has won a couple of Daytime Emmy Awards during his career but he’s never won a Primetime Emmy. Maybe his luck will change, like Newhart’s did, with a guest appearance on The Big Bang Theory.
