Sandra Bullock Won’t Star In ‘The Heat’ Sequel
Sandra Bullock has absolutely zero interest in returning for the sequel to The Heat.
Bridesmaids director Paul Feig’s action-comedy was a surprise hit when it landed in theaters earlier this year. Although the director and the folks at 20th Century Fox want to get started on a follow-up, the actress said she’s not interested in reprising her role as Ashburn.
While promoting director Alfonso Cuaron’s acclaimed sci-fi drama Gravity, Sandra Bullock dropped some details about the sequel to The Heat. Although Paul Feig and Melissa McCarthy may return for the next installment, Bullock currently has no plans to help out with the comedy. However, things could always change at the last minute.
“I’m not doing a sequel to ‘The Heat.’ I’ve done two sequels. They were horrible,” Bullock recently told The Wrap. However, she does hope to work with her co-star again in the future.
“What Melissa and I had was beautiful. We might do another film together. I think we should do a silent film together,” the actress remarked.
This isn’t the first time Sandra Bullock has weighed in on the status of The Heat 2. She recently told Entertainment Weekly that she couldn’t imagine a follow-up to the hit comedy. Bullock also discussed her previous experience with sequels. The less said about Speed 2 and Miss Congeniality 2, the better.
“I don’t want to ruin what Melissa and I had. If a miracle happens where [a script] shows up that really and truly outdid the first and provided an experience that was better than the first one, then I would look at it. But I’m not there,” she told the publication earlier this year.
Bullock continued, “If you look back on my illustrious sequel work nothing has proven successful. A sequel is such a daunting thing, because you don’t want to lose the magic and the charm of the first one.”
