Bondage Class Accidentally Offered At Community Center

Whoops! A bondage class, complete with spanking workshop, offered at a small English village’s community center under the guise of being a “relationship support group” is raising a few eyebrows. The class, however, was recently banned when local officials learned of the true nature of the group.

The community center in Trumpington, a small village outside of Cambridge, has been in use for over a century. While most tend to think of the facility as the natural meeting place for organizations like the Girl Guides or charity groups, village leaders were surprised to learn of one group that calls itself Peer Rope Cambridge. Maybe the name should have been a hint?

According to Huffington Post, Peer Rope Cambridge has hosted a number of “workshops” and classes that teach “violence/resistance play” and the “basics of erotic hypnosis.” For only $16 local villagers can learn “kink on a budget,” which includes basic dominance and masochist sex play. Lest anyone accuse the group of being crass or undignified, tea and biscuits are, of course, present at all meetings.

After learning these details, the bondage class’s planned meeting for October 12 was canceled. And unsurprisingly, the group has been outright banned, NBC News reports. A particularly outraged official, 51-year-old Barbara Fernandez, says she will be looking at taking legal action against the bondage group. She worries that news of S&M workshops will upset other community groups that use the community center.

One city councilor, Sheila Stuart, says that a few Trumpington residents have become upset over learning of the kinky group. However, during a recent radio debate on the issue, a number of locals called in to voice their support for Cambridge Kink, Stuart says.

After looking at the group’s website, Stuart says the meetings seem well-organized and were real workshops, not simply peep shows. She believes S&M is becoming more socially acceptable, though perhaps not yet for this small English village. The bondage class, Stuart says, shows this and can probably be credited to the popularity of Fifty Shades of Grey.
