Bridget Jones [Spoilers!] Enrages Fans In Latest Installment

Fans of Helen Fielding’s Bridget Jones series are freaking out Misery style, after the latest plot twist involving the blundering and ever-swingle British everywoman in a new book.

SPOILERS! If you plan to read the new Bridget Jones book, kindly do not read further, as the plot twist is coming up.

You’ve been warned!

So, as it seems, life for Bridget Jones has not calmed down, and the neurotic office worker played by Renee Zellweger is getting a twist of fate crueler than that time she got sent to a Thai prison.

A Sunday Times piece regarding the new Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy installment indicates that the novel series and films’ popular Mark Darcy, played by Colin Firth, gets killed off by Fielding in the new book.

Fans, as you can imagine, were displeased.

In the newest book, Bridget Jones was married to Darcy, the human rights lawyer, and a mom to two boys. In it, she is a widowed mother of the pair, and we don’t know yet what happened to her spouse.

What we do know is that Jones has a “toy boy” (what they call a boy toy in England) named Roxster, and that Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant in the movie adaptations) is back on the scene as a “naughty godfather… who can be relied upon for babysitting duties and inappropriate sexual advances towards their mother” in the latest chapter of the series.

Are you a fan of Bridget Jones, and will you be picking up the next book regardless of its premise? Or do you feel like it’s too hard to say goodbye to Mark Darcy even if it means more of your favorite series?
