Garden Fresh Foods Recall Ready-Made Chicken and Ham Products

Garden Fresh Foods of Milwaukee has recalled 19,000 pounds of ready-made chicken and ham products.

The recall of the ready-made chicken and ham products is because of a possible Listeria bacteria contamination.

According to the Huffington Post, the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service says the foods were distributed to retailers and food services nationwide.

The possibly contaminated products are sold under a variety of brands, including: Market Pantry, Archer Farms, D’Amico and Sons, Finest Traditions, Garden Fresh and Weis.

A press release from the USDA stated that the products where distributed to retail and food services establishments nationwide.

According to the Star Tribune, the agency says problem was discovered through testing by the Food and Drug Administration.

The USDA report continued on to say that the problem was discovered through microbiological testing at the facility by FDA.

The report continues on to state that the FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers.

The Star Tribune report goes on to say that there have been no reports of illnesses due to consumption of these products.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) lists some ways to prevent contracting Listeria(Listeriosis):

• Wash your food thoroughly
• Keep your kitchen and environment clean
• Cook meat and poultry thoroughly
• Store foods safely
• Choose safer foods
