Every year, game publishing behemoth EA Sports boots up the latest entry in its Madden NFL series, and lets the computer play out the upcoming Super Bowl. EA’s been carrying out this PR exercise viable scientific study since 2004, and has predicted the winning team on six out of seven occasions.
And so to this year’s Sensational Plate, and Madden NFL 11 tells us the Pittsburgh Steelers will edge out the Green Bay Packers by 24-20 to clinch the seventh Brilliant Dish in the team’s history. That, I am informed, is a ‘good guess,’ though I can’t pretend I know a single thing about the NFL or the Marvellous Saucer. Thank heavens we’ve got the esteemed Mr. Lobdell round these parts.
